Having bought this to help with a little thinning on the back of the head, I had to stop after a week. Why? The smell. Unfortunately I didn't think the makers of Rogaine would actually make a product that stinks like a 1950s hair gel that men of that generation felt compelled to wear. It also reminds me of one of Lysol's less popular scents used specifically to cover up litter box odors.
The smell was so strong I was embarrassed to use it or get trapped anywhere in close proximity to other people, and started dousing myself with too much cologne to mask the overpowering scent. All in all it was an odoriferous nightmare. So now I'm stuck with 3 cans of the foam and I can't even give them away. I tried. Now having perused Amazon more closely, I see Rogaine makes Rogaine- Unscented Hair Regrowth Treatment, 3 Month Supply. It simply never occurred to me that any company would charge this much for a product and NOT indicate on the label that it isn't fragrance-free, or smells like l'eau de Lysol.
So I'm out the $40 or so bucks because I'm pretty sure Amazon doesn't take back opened toiletries because they stink. This might explain why it came in packaging that was sealed up tighter than a toad's rump. Maybe the odor leaks out of the can via degenerative osmosis and the hardened plastic keeps it sealed in.
Whatever you do, READ the label. If it doesn't specifically say it's fragrance-free, chances are very good it isn't. I have been using Rogaine for about three months now. I started using it on my temples and have had great results. I have recently started using it on the top of my scalp and my receding hairline. Though not clinically tested for either of these areas this is where my hair loss is. What else can I say plain and simple other than... it works.

Did not come in retail packaging as pictured - received three loose cans. I discovered a week later that I could get 4 cans (in sealed packaging) at Sam's Club for the same amount I paid for these with shipping. So I paid 25% too much.

I agree with the other reviewers on the smell, for me it was overwhelming. After application in the morning the scent did not fade for four to five hours and was still noticeable for up to eight hours. I'm giving up on this after two applications, I'll deal with the hair loss rather than live with the smell.
Also why does this contain butane and propane? Both are very flammable gases, could they have not found a safer propellant?

I bought from this merchant before and he's got fabulous shipping time to here in New England.
About the product, the product is fabulous. In 2 days time I notice already that I have much less hair loss in the tub after I shower. When I comb my hair less falls out by a long run. I have yet to notice how it will be in 2 weeks or even 6 months, but my dermatologist will be pleased.
I first tried the liquid accidentally thinking that the product was the same as the one my doctor recommended, then I remembered she referred me to the foam Minoxidil.
Well this foam is unbelievable, no running down into my face and eyes.
I don't need to cool off my hands as recommended on some sites, but I tried using a rubber glove and that was nice to keep it off my hands. Then I decided to "get down and dirty" and use both hands, ungloved, and rub the stuff in like I would shampoo. Much better and easier when you have to do a whole head or a large area. Don't be afraid of the stuff. It's like using styling foam. Only thing different is you rub it into your scalp rather than accentuating your hair. You can style your hair as usual with the stuff only thing is it seems to strip the color treatment I have in my hair out of my hair. My hair looks a bit white to gray with the stuff in, and it makes the hair feel nasty and dry. But when washed out, the hair comes back to natural luster again.
